Eleven

Happy 11th birthday Jonathan.  How in the world is it even possible that you are eleven years old?  You are growing up...literally, growing up!  Won't it be fun to remember that when you turned 11 you wore a size 6 shoe and size 10/12 pants.  You weighed 79 pounds and stood 4 ft 7 inches tall and in the 5th grade.  You used to get up at the crack of dawn...you must be growing because of all the extra sleep...

I haven't been terribly successful in not burning stuff since we moved into our new house, but I made sure to very carefully bake your breakfast-in-bed cinnamin rolls.  MMM...

Since we don't do birthday presents in our house, the breakfast-in-bed and the special meal and fun cake have to make up for it.  I promise when you turn twelve, all three of those things will be fabulous!  The promise of homemade Runzas kind of fell short...
...and your cake?  Well, since when you turned 11, the Wonder Bread/Hostess company went out of business, we thought we would pay tribute to Hostess and build a Twinkie and Ho-Ho cake--the last one ever--but alas, there wasn't a Twinkie to be found in Lincoln.  It was an ebay only market, so rather than change gears, we just changed maufacturers and build a Little Debbie cake instead.  :)

This year you turned eleven on the same day of the week that you were born...Tuesday.  Two days before Thanksgiving.  Due to the holiday, we either postponed your celebration or extended it...whichever you like!  As a 5th grader, you are entitled to a birthday party with friends--set into motion 4 years ago when Jakob was a 5th grader...but it would have to wait until later...thus, extending your celebration!
As a special bonus this year, you got to celebrate with your great grandma too as we celebrated her 85th birthday!  ( I lost the picture of you and great grandma!)

Upon our return home, and at the first available moment, we welcomed your 10 classmates to join us in celebrating you some more.

Games, sugar, games involving sugar, sugar as a prize for games...

...and then they were done...
"Best birthday party ever"--your words.  :)  Thanks Jon!  Thanks for being born!  You're my favorite Jonathan in the whole world!!
