March 2017

It is proving to be a little harder to recreate month by month the things that happened in our home.  I'm sure I'm not going to be 100% accurate, but it's fun to go back.  5 months old!  How??
Willa went to visit Grandma and Grandpa.  She rode to Scottsbluff with friends of theirs who she didn't know at all at the beginning of the trip, but by the end they were all well acquainted!  She had a great time and melted her Grandparents hearts every day.  A few days into her stay, she had a freak accident in which she tripped and fell on top of the toy she was carrying and sliced her thumb and thumb nail open very deeply and chipped the bone.  Deep enough to require a tiny surgery to stitch things back together.
She was so brave and managed this huge bandage for over a week.  I'm not sure it slowed her down much.

Tree removal is expensive, so I guess we're learning how to do it.  It was a great learning experience not only in learning HOW-TO remove a tree, but how to do it without going crazy since we have lots of chiefs and not very many patient people.  We acquired a new chain saw, applied some physics, prayed a lot (from inside watching out my window) and witnessed the really cool result of working hard!
Pie...for National Pie day.  Why not?  Especially since I'm still on a baking kick and trying to perfect meringue.
...and because there were people at my house to eat pie!
Many weekends are spent in a gym or at a pool!  Mattie and Joe both swam for GNST, even though I really have very few pictures...probably because I always had a toddler and an infant in my arms instead of a camera!
The thumb with only a tiny bandage finally!
We've entered a new sports season and a new high school sport.  Jon has always been fast.  When he was little he ran track at Cornhusker State Games and even then we knew he was fast.  This was his first meet indoors at NWU.  He ran the 400 with the Varsity team and recorded a PR!  Very exciting stuff!
And this kid was inducted into National Honor Society.  So proud of these boys...all of them, and the girls too!  :)
Joseph is a competitor.  It doesn't matter what he is doing.  If we gave him pointe shoes and a tutu, he would dance, and he wouldn't stop until he got it right!  He is a strong swimmer and has really enjoyed this season of competitive swim!
We move from one sport to the next...from a gym to a pool to a track and then to a baseball field.  And if it isn't one of those, it's something else!  In between a cold baseball and picking Willa up from Spanish Class we stopped for hot cocoa.
Baseball...there is something about watching baseball.  It's what we've done every summer since he was four!  It tends to be a little more stressful when he is on the mound now vs when he was little, but still so exciting!
This is "Hoeller."  Not Miss Hoeller or Emily.  Willa started calling her by her last name and I hope she never stops because it is too cute!
Stations of the cross during Lent.  It is always great to see them serving Mass or stations or benediction or whatever it may be.  It is even better when they get to do it together.
Our neighborhood is amazing.  Randomly and not as frequently as we would like anymore, we gather for brunch.  It is a ridiculous amount of food, consumed ridiculously fast, but these will be some of my favorite memories and cherished times.
Still changing!!
We celebrated no more bandages on the thumb by picking up some peach coffee cake--and probably something with sprinkles!
How these little hands can change so quickly.  Soon there will be no squishy little dimples.
Joe and Amelia celebrated their birthdays together at Skate Zone as one of the last parties before it closed for good!
2nd grade and 4th grade.
I think she falls asleep in more random places than any of the other kids combined!

Seriously...I guess winter is just really that tiring!!
But she works pretty hard at being cute...no wonder she's tired all the time!
